State of the art and off the shelf
Camden Creative Studios is located inside the Youth Space and currently consists of three rooms dedicated to everything multimedia. The darkroom houses all equipment necessary for black and white film processing and printing. The sound room is divided into two soundproof spaces and, although initially designed exclusively for sound recording, is outfitted with several Macintosh computers and industry-standard software to cover a range of media production. The sound room can easily be reconfigured to suit the particular activity at hand.
Augmenting the computer stuff are cameras, mics, and all the other bits essential for capture and some performance. Its not unusual for the data projector to suddenly become the centre of a Vee-Jaying improvisation. Or the video camera to double as the field-sound recorder. Or the digital stills camera to become the electronic whiteboard note-taker, for that matter.
Necessity is the mother of invention. To necessitate an exchange with Camden Creative Studios, contact Council's Cultural Development Coordinator Angela Pasqua.
