ABOUT OUR PLAN
This Cultural Plan was developed in consultation with various stakeholders and council staff, and incorporates the findings of the cultural mapping conducted in 2002 (Mapping the Cultural Fabric of the Camden Local Government Area, 2002). Specifically, the process of producing Camden’s Cultural Plan involved the following steps:
1 / Undertaking a quantitative cultural assessment of Camden by assembling key information on the population and physical assets
This incorporated compiling a population profile of Camden and a cultural assets and activities profile.
2 / Integrating Camden’s Cultural Map (2002)
This Cultural Map was developed through a series of qualitative and quantitative data collection strategies designed to obtain direct input from citizens of the Camden Local Government area.
3 / Undertaking community consultations
Stakeholders involved in this process included various groups within the Camden Local Government Area comprising of community representatives, community organisations - including arts groups - and other experts.
4 / Establishing a consultative committee - the Cultural Plan Advisory Working Group - to review, research and determine the community’s priorities
5 / Reviewing literature from various sources, including Arts NSW guidelines and case studies of other Councils
6 / Initiating pilot projects to trial run some of the research findings during the development of the plan in 2007 / 2008
These projects are variously included in the OBJECTIVES, GOALS, OUTCOMES and ACTIONS section of the Cultural Plan document.
