Announcing Camden's new Cultural Plan
Two and a half years in the making - engaging in community and cross-organisational consultation combined with thorough critical analysis - has resulted in a plan that’s comprehensive yet straightforward and an achievable guide for the Camden Local Government Area's (LGA) cultural wellbeing, consolidation and growth.
It was imperative to move beyond the plan being simply a research paper. For this reason, a key strategy to ensure success was to initiate pilot projects to trial-run some of the research findings during the plan’s development.
Council’s 2025 strategic plan sets out the long-term vision for Camden, including a Camden that has achieved a broad range of opportunities for a prosperous and complete lifestyle. In the Cultural Plan, objectives, goals, outcomes and actions are detailed that address specific strategies for achieving these ends. Council formally adopted the Plan late last year and many of the actions are already being implemented.
A 'living' plan
Another key concern was turning the plan into a ‘living’ document. Building upon process, partnerships and outcomes already established, the next step was to facilitate accessibility through connectivity by developing an interactive website.
The document has been adapted for the web with a basic architecture for further expandability. This will significantly enhance the user experience, improving the prospects of greater community awareness and participation in Cultivating Creativity in Camden.
This is just the beginning.
