The Summer Reading Challenge is for young people aged 0-16 years.
WHY DO WE HAVE A SUMMER READING CHALLENGE?
Reading during the summer school holidays helps maintain your literacy skills, and best of all it’s fun!
We challenge you to read for at least 15 minutes per day.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Register online or at Camden, Narellan or Oran Park Libraries from Monday 12 December. You will need a library card to register for the reading challenge. Library membership is free, join here!
Children (0-11)
Collect your reading log bookmark from one of our libraries, mark off when you read every 15 minutes. Tick one box on your bookmark each day you complete a challenge.
For every completed bookmark returned, collect your special brag tag for your bag so that everyone knows that you are a reading star! Returned bookmarks will go into a draw to receive a family movie pass.
Youth (12+)
Reading Bingo! Pick up your bingo card from one of our libraries. Achieve 4 challenges to receive an aquatic pass and go into the draw for a movie pass.
WHAT CAN I READ?
Anything! To get the best benefits, we recommend you read at your ability level.
You can also read magazines, newspapers or listen to an audiobook.
If you’re lucky enough to have access to a laptop, iPad or iPhone you can download eBooks from the library website.
If you are not a reader yet, you can have someone read to you. You could also check out the children’s e-resources on our website and enjoy a story on StoryBox.
PRIZES
3 x family movie passes.
The movie passes will be randomly drawn on Tuesday 24 January.
